ENA Foundation Academic Scholarships

Mandatory Scholarship Orientation
All scholarship recipients must attend a required 20 minute virtual orientation in early September. This meeting provides important information about the scholarship and the disbursement process. Award checks will not be issued to the recipient’s educational institution if the orientation is not attended.
Application Procedures
All applications must be submitted through the ENA Foundation online system at:https://ena.smapply.io/
Applicants must create an account in SurveyMonkey Apply to submit an application. All required materials must be uploaded directly to the system as PDF documents. Links to external files will not be accepted.
Incomplete applications cannot be submitted or reviewed. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all materials are complete and submitted by the posted deadline. Applications received after the deadline will not be reviewed.
All completed applications are reviewed by a designated scholarship selection committee.
Required Application Components
Application Materials
- Signed and dated application form
- Statement of professional and educational goals
- Description of community and professional organization involvement
Required Documentation
- Nursing license, if applicable
- ENA membership card, if applicable
- Transcripts uploaded directly to the system
- ENA Foundation reserves the right to request official transcripts if needed
- Acceptance letter from the educational institution
- Proof of tuition and academic fees
- Verification of institutional accreditation
- Proof of payment, if applicable
Letters of Recommendation
Two letters of recommendation are required and must be submitted through SurveyMonkey Apply.
Applicants must enter the recommender’s contact information in the system. An automated email will be sent with instructions for completing the recommendation.
Additional Documentation
Additional documentation may be required, including:
- EMT badge card
- BCEN certification card or cards
- Military ID or DD-214
Award Conditions
- Scholarship funds may be used only for tuition and academic fees, including books.
- Scholarship payments are made payable directly to the recipient’s academic institution, not to the individual.
- Scholarship recipients may be asked periodically to provide testimonials or feedback related to their education and career progression.
- Additional requirements and restrictions may apply.
Doctoral Scholarships
Eligible Applicants
Emergency nurses pursuing a doctoral degree, including PhD, DNP, or EdD programs.
Requirements
- Current ENA member in good standing
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Enrollment in an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with verification provided
- Statement of intent to enter or advance an emergency nursing career
- Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a current ENA member in good standing
Additional Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants more than six months beyond completion of all coursework and comprehensive examinations are ineligible
- Previous ENA Foundation scholarship recipients may apply at the doctoral level, including previous doctoral recipients
Ineligibility
- Current members or individuals who have served within the past three years on the ENA Board of Directors, ENA Foundation Board of Trustees, or ENA Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee
- Spouses and children of such individuals
For eligibility purposes, children are defined as natural, legally adopted, stepchildren, or grandchildren.
Graduate and Master’s Scholarships
Eligible Applicants
Emergency nurses pursuing a master’s degree in:
- Nursing Administration
- Nurse Practitioner
- Nursing Education
- Public Health
If your degree program is not listed, contact ENA.Foundation@ena.org for confirmation.
Requirements
- Current ENA member in good standing
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Enrollment in an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with verification provided
- Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a current ENA member in good standing
Additional Eligibility Criteria
- With the exception of doctoral and Elizabeth B. Moore Memorial Scholarships, previous recipients may not reapply within the same category but may apply for the next educational level
- Previous doctoral scholarship recipients may reapply in the doctoral category
Ineligibility
- Current or recent members within the past three years of the ENA Board of Directors, ENA Foundation Board of Trustees, or Scholarship Selection Committee
- Spouses and children of such individuals
Non RN Scholarships
Eligible Applicants
Individuals pursuing an associate or baccalaureate degree in nursing, including:
- Rescue workers such as pre hospital care providers, firefighters, and police officers
- Emergency department employees including EMTs, CNAs, clerical coordinators, registration staff, and similar roles
Requirements
- ENA membership is not required
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Enrollment in an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with verification provided
- Two letters of recommendation
Additional Requirements
- One letter must be from an educational professional such as a teacher, professor, advisor, or department chair
- Additional consideration is given if a recommendation is submitted by an ENA member
- Emergency department employees must also submit a letter from their nurse director or manager confirming interest in emergency nursing
Ineligibility
- Previous Non RN scholarship recipients may not reapply
- Current or recent members within the past three years of ENA or ENA Foundation governance bodies, and their spouses and children
Undergraduate Scholarships
Eligible Applicants
Individuals and nurses pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
Requirements
- Current ENA member in good standing, except for Elizabeth B. Moore Memorial Scholarship applicants
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Enrollment in an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with verification provided
- Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from an educational professional
Additional consideration is given if a recommendation is submitted by an ENA member.
